How much does it cost to work with The Keys to Travel?
Our Research and Design Fee is based on the type of trip you are booking:
Hotel-only Bookings
Always complimentary to you! If you know the hotel and dates you would like to book, we are happy to book the hotel for you for free so you receive additional amenities on our behalf. *Luxury hotels only.*
Travel Package – $500

Why do you charge a Research & Design Fee?
The Keys to Travel is a fee-plus commission-based business model. The commission we earn from our travel partners is a bonus for working with them. Our commitment is to YOU, our client, and to always recommend the experience that is right for you. The service fee affords us the ability to focus on quality over quantity and invest the necessary time, research, and advocacy in building, booking, and managing your best possible experience.
Fees are further invested into continuing education, conferences and trade shows, site inspections, and systems and tools that help us stay current and continually expand our services in the interest of our clients’ experience.
How far in advance should we start planning our trip?
As soon as you know you want to travel! The farther in advance you plan and book your vacation, the more options you will have at the best price. Here are some estimates on how far in advance to start the planning process:
- For honeymoons and Europe travel, we recommend starting the planning process 10 months in advance.
- If you are traveling over a holiday or peak season (like summer in Europe), you should start planning 11 months to 12 months in advance.
Note that many airlines do not release their flight itineraries until 11 months prior to departure. However, we can start planning the land portion of your trip before then!
Can we use reward miles or points toward our trip?
Earning rewards is great! We do have an option for clients to use their airline points and miles for flights, however, we’re unable to use your hotel loyalty reward programs.
Do you book Airbnb or home rentals?
No, we do not book AirBnB or VRBO due to the inability to properly vet the accommodation nor advocate for you if something goes wrong.
While we don’t work with home rental companies like VRBO or Airbnb, we do partner with luxury home rental companies around the world that are vetted and have excellent villa and condo-style accommodations.
What other services don’t you cover?
In addition to not booking Airbnb or VRBOs, we do not book air-only travel.
In order to create a seamless travel experience for our clients, we design complete vacation experiences customized to each client, which can include everything from airfare, transportation, hotel accommodations, experiences, and travel insurance.
Do you recommend travel insurance?
Yes! We strongly advise purchasing travel insurance for your vacation. It protects you financially and medically prior to travel and during travel. Hopefully, you won’t have to utilize your policy, but if and when you need it, it is so important to have it. During the planning process, we will include options for the policy or policies we would recommend for your trip. Travel insurance has to be purchased at the time of the trip deposit.

Once we get that back from you, we will send you an email to set up a phone call. This initial discovery call will take about 30 minutes and we will talk about the details of your trip, what it looks like to work with us, and review our Research and Design Fee.
